How often should I have my teeth scaled and polished?
Every 6 months is recommended. Your dentist may suggest more frequent treatments if you have gum disease or a higher risk of tartar build-up.
Is the procedure uncomfortable?
It is generally not painful, but some patients feel mild discomfort or sensitivity. Your dentist can apply a numbing gel if needed.
Will my gums bleed or feel sensitive afterwards?
You may have slight gum sensitivity or bleeding. This is temporary and should settle within a day or two. Your teeth may feel more sensitive to hot or cold for a short time.
